Peter Scherrer is a contemporary artist who works primarily in painting and woodblock printmaking. His work approaches the subject of nature and landscape in a unique way, incorporating symbolism, layering and abstraction.
“As experienced by Scherrer, fields, beaches, forests are not landscape as background, or real estate, but our living surround that births our love, loss, and remembering. They invite us to see with that eye that can pierce straight through the vellum of OUR world (which is to say a world envisioned as a compendium of things to possess, with the pocketbook, the bomb, and law) to the deep wild waters of THE world – one that precedes us, will outlive us and to which we belong in common.”
